Fergal Keaney, 5 times World champion, along with his brother, Cathal, after many years of dancing with Trad on the Prom were chosen by Michael Flatley to be the male Lead Dancers in Lord of the Dance, Dangerous Games.
Fergal started Irish dancing at the age of 5 at his local national school Maree N.S. From there he went on to join the O’Brien school of Irish dancing in Galway and began his competitive career. During his time there Fergal won 4 Connaught titles, 1 All Ireland Title, The European Championships and 2 consecutive world dancing titles.
In 2004 Fergal joined the Hession School of Irish dancing in Galway. From here Fergal won a further 5 Connaught Championships, All Ireland Championship, All Scottish Championship, Great British & British Nationals and 3 World Irish Dancing Championships.
In 2007 Fergal and Cathal took part in Ireland’s first televised talent competition called “Class Act”. They were voted by the public into a live grand final and by popular demand were again voted overall winners claiming a cash prize of 10,000 euro.
Fergal also has a first class honours degree in Physics with Astrophysics from NUI Galway, so it is little wonder that he continued to defy gravity with his amazing displays of dancing in Trad on the Prom.Now living in London Fergal rejoined Trad on the Prom for their recent sell out show in the beautiful Portalen Theatre, Copenhagen.
